Short writeup:
The 2024 Jurong-Pioneer Junior College Weighted Assessment 2 focuses on Organic Chemistry, with a touch of application to other topics in the A-level H2 Chemistry syllabus.
Each year, I make it a point to review JPJC's prelim papers because they consistently offer questions that help establish a strong foundation for my JC2 students. This paper exemplifies that quality.
The questions are not overly difficult, and many will seem familiar to students, as they are commonly found in tutorial questions and revision packages. Students who have diligently prepared will find it manageable to complete this paper with a respectable score.
JPJC also includes application questions that are designed to stretch students' thinking without overwhelming them with excessive information. These questions demonstrate how different topics can integrate to form a comprehensive question, aligning with the basic expectations of any JC.
Overall, this is a solid paper, ideal for timed practice. Students who want to assess their readiness for contextual questions should aim to score at least a B.
