Short writeup:
The 2020 Beatty Secondary School E Math Paper 1 falls short in several areas. Many questions draw from the Additional Math syllabus, creating an unfair disadvantage for students who haven’t taken A Math. This can lead to confusion and double-checking, unlike their peers who are familiar with A Math concepts.
Additionally, the paper's use of fractions and complex numbers makes the questions unnecessarily tedious. While there are insights to be gained, they often feel irrelevant due to the cumbersome calculations involved. This makes the paper particularly challenging for students not well-versed in Math or unfamiliar with A Math concepts.
Overall, this paper isn't recommended for most students. However, for those who enjoy cherry-picking challenging questions, it can be a useful exercise in identifying fair and beneficial problems. A well-prepared student should be able to discern which questions are valuable for future revision.
